Preschool for the One Year Old

This class is designed to help moms get a much needed break. The one year old class is gives constant love and does what no mom has time to do with a growing one year old, Sit & Play! As the one year olds grow and learn, we help with the transition from one to two. The ones will do many things during the day. We start their day with play time, followed by prayer and a snack. The children will experiment with painting, play-doh and age appropriate manipulatives.

Requirements:  The child must be one and walking, on the day they enter preschool.

Preschool for the Two Year Old

As every parent knows, the two year old is ready to assert his or her independence at every turn! Here at Hay Street Preschool, we offer a wonderful program that brings out the hidden potential bundled up in these little ones – so full of energy and life!

We expose the children to a large variety of topics using observation, imitation, exploration, and open access to hands-on experience using the five senses. At this age, as in all levels of Early Childhood Education, learning is most meaningful when it is achieved through play.  A typical day for the 2 year old at Hay Street Preschool will include...
  • Reading books
  • Art projects
  • Listening to music
  • Movement
  • Playing outside
  • Hearing stories, songs and prayers

The children will be actively involved throughout the day in the various centers the classroom has available:

  • Blocks and trucks
  • Music
  • Books
  • Housekeeping
  • Manipulatives

The two-year olds go on a monthly walking field trip, to the Library. There, the class topics will be reiterated through the Librarian. Hay Street Preschool two year old class has been equipped with a “little persons” potty. We encourage our parents to communicate with the teachers so that we can help with the training process.

Preschool for Three Year Olds

Who, what, where and why? These are the questions every three year old asks! So we look to encourage this age to learn through play. Our daily routine consists of activities the children love to do: art projects, puzzles, manipulative toys, dramatic play. We offer tables filled with educational items, all designed to enhance their development and answer their questions about their world!

Center time focuses on cognitive development, and includes songs, puzzles, finger puppets, games, or reading a story. The month, day of the week, pledge to the flag and a prayer. In addition the three year old class will go to the playground, have lunch and spend time in their room.
