Music StaffMarshall Haning, Director of Worship Arts
Marshall Haning is a young and energetic director who believes that music is an integral part of the worship service and that all Christians have musical gifts that they can contribute. Marshall holds a B.M. in Music Education from Kent State University in Ohio, where he graduated summa cum laude and with University Honors. While at Kent State, Marshall was active in a large number of performing ensembles. He sang operatic roles in Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore and Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, performed selections from Schubert's Winterreise, and was a member of many university choral ensembles. Marshall also served as the Director of Music Ministries at the Church in Silver Lake, a small United Church of Christ, for three years. Currently, he is the vocal music director at Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville.
Cheryl Lindquist, Organist/ Early Service Accompanist
Jane Gardiner, Choir Accompanist Jane Gardiner, a life-long member of Hay Street Church and member of the Chancel Choir, serves as staff accompanist. She is Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Methodist University, where she has served on faculty since 1985. An Associate Professor of Music, she holds her Bach. in Music from Salem College, and Masters from New England Conservatory. She is a pianist who is active as a soloist and ensemble performer. Mrs. Gardiner has also been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship at Harvard University to study Afro-American music. gardiner@methodist.edu
